And he’s here!  Not too long after I took this beautiful family’s maternity photos, little man #2 made his big debut!  He is so precious and so sweet and made me miss my daughter being a newborn (I know it wasn’t even that long ago!)  And he also gave us the sweetest newborn smile ever!  Those dimples!

Mom wanted a shot in this really cool wood basket she had to match a newborn photo of little man #1, and we successfully got “the shot.”  She ended up getting canvases and framed prints from both our maternity and newborn sessions and featured them on floating shelves in her dining room.  Take it from me – it looks stunning and the photos look even way more beautiful in print.  Note to self (and to clients) really consider ordering prints, albums or canvases; leaving the photos on your disc just doesn’t do them justice!

Back in July I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing this lovely family of three.  Baby girl wasn’t so sure about me at first, but ended up caving and falling asleep to pose for some photos.  She made some of the cutest faces and something tells me she’s going to have a fun little personality.  Their dog had quite a personality too and was always camera ready.  I truly enjoyed my time photographing this beautiful family and their sweet new addition.

Here are a few favorites from a newborn session for a dear friend of mine.  Her baby girl was an absolutely angel during her session which was definitely telling of her little personality.  She not only looks just like her beautiful mama but is sweet like her too.  As always, it’s such a pleasure working with friends and being able to see their little ones grow up!

Before I got pregnant, it was already decided that we would wait to find out the gender whenever we had a baby.  Upon getting pregnant, the nursery planning fun began.  My whole house and decorating style is comprised of soft, neutral tones.  I decided I really needed to go outside of the box for once and use bright, fun colors.  After all, a kids room is the perfect and most appropriate space to do so.

I decided on turquoise and orange for the main colors of the palette, with accents of yellow and green.  A good friend of mine had this beautiful world map that I instantly fell in love with, so I went and bought one for the space.  I painted two dowel rods white, glued them to the map then hung it with twine.  I pulled my colors from the map, and bought accessories to compliment it.  The map ended up being the perfect focal point; because of our lifestyle (we move and travel a lot) I decided on a travel theme for the room.

The dresser was an $80 Craigslist find that we painted ourselves (at 9 months pregnant I must add…thankfully hubby helped!) the orange lamp is from Target, assorted frames, chevron blanket and “happiness” pillow from Burlington Coat Factory, white floating shelves and Poang rocking chair from Ikea, world globe from Stein Mart and green burlap basket from T.J. Maxx.  To showcase where we have lived so far, I found white shadowbox frames online and displayed each state with colored card stock mounted on burlap (inspired from Pinterest of course!)  The only project I didn’t complete was a paper plane mobile made from maps…that will just have to be my project for the next one!

While reflecting on our short time in Florida…the white sand, emerald green water, and all the memories made there, I decided I should probably blog some of my favorite photos from my sessions there.  Hey, better late than never, right?  You know how great I am at keeping the blog updated…ha!  Baby steps…baby steps.

Anyway, each session really is deserving of it’s own post, mostly because of how wonderful and unique each family is.  I know I say this all the time, but every time someone books me, I feel so special that they chose me.

One of the neatest things and a big reason of why I love my job so much is that I have taken away something from each and every session – every single one.  It may be how fondly a husband talks about his wife or the way he looks so lovingly at her,  the story of a child that wasn’t expected to live past infancy and is thriving at four,  or the dynamic of three sisters that reminded me so much of my own…each family has left their mark on me.

By sharing these pictures I am giving you just a glimpse into the short but invaluable time I had working with these beautiful, incredible people.
